Senior Manager, Quality (General Merchandise)

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Senior Manager, Quality (General Merchandise) to lead quality assurance initiatives across our sourcing operations in the Asia-Pacific region. Reporting into the Global Head of Quality, this leadership role is instrumental in driving end-to-end quality strategies for General Merchandise categories including apparel, footwear, jewellery, accessories, electronics, furniture, and other hardgoods. As a key member of the regional sourcing leadership team, you will be responsible for ensuring that all products meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance. This position plays a vital role in safeguarding brand reputation by leading quality execution across supplier networks and ensuring alignment with global quality frameworks.
Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement a comprehensive regional quality strategy aligned with global objectives, ensuring consistency across all product lines and geographies. Lead and mentor a high-performing team of quality professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement. Partner closely with global quality teams, sourcing, supply chain, compliance, and vendor management functions to drive quality performance and resolve complex issues. Evaluate and monitor supplier and factory performance through audits, risk assessments, and rating systems to ensure compliance with internal and external quality standards. Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate quality risks; manage urgent quality or safety incidents, including product recalls and corrective actions. Design and deploy robust quality assurance processes, leveraging technology and data analytics to enhance efficiency, reduce defects, and improve product safety. Participate in the development and implementation of global quality standards and ensure effective adoption within the APAC region. Establish and track KPIs related to quality performance, root cause analysis, and corrective action effectiveness; report findings and recommendations to senior leadership. Champion quality improvement programs such as Lean, Six Sigma, and other methodologies to drive operational excellence and customer satisfaction. Serve as the primary contact for internal and external stakeholders on quality-related matters, building strong relationships across the business and supplier ecosystem.
Key Competencies: Strategic thinking with the ability to translate global quality vision into actionable regional plans. Strong leadership and team development capabilities. Deep knowledge of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, AQL standards). Experience in managing cross-functional and multicultural teams. Demonstrated success in supplier quality management and factory audit processes. Analytical mindset with proven ability to interpret data and drive fact-based decision-making. Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills. Familiarity with international regulatory and compliance requirements. Proficiency in using quality tools and statistical analysis methods.
Travel Requirements: This role requires frequent regional and international travel (approximately 30-50%) to visit suppliers, factories, and regional offices across the APAC region, often involving extended stays.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or a related field; advanced degree preferred. Minimum of 12+ years of progressive experience in quality management within sourcing, manufacturing, or retail environments. Prior leadership experience managing multi-category quality assurance teams. Certification in quality methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean, ASQ) is preferred. Fluency in English required; additional Asian languages a plus.
