Assistant Sourcing Manager (Retail/ Woven, Cut & Sewn)
The company we represent is a retail business that offers a variety of professional attire for modern men and women under various brand names. They are currently looking for an Assistant Sourcing Manager to join the organisation.
Responsibilities:
- Source and procure seasonal fabrics for the Design team's requirements
- Supervise the ordering and delivery of sample fabrics, including negotiating prices
- Proactively communicate any new developments to the Design team, collaborating closely with the Design Manager/Chief Designer to create product concepts and understand vendor needs
- Participate in the Fabric Show to gather fresh ideas for fabric development
- Broaden the sourcing network and regularly assess the performance of fabric mills.
- Collaborate with the Production team and factories to address any fabric-related challenges during bulk fabric production
- Engage in negotiations with suppliers regarding pricing and agreements.
- Participate in the key product meetings
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in textile or a related field
- Significant experience in fabric sourcing, with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory role
- Thorough understanding of fibric, weaving, dyeing, finishing, inspection procedures, and textile testing methods
- Extensive background in fashion fabric development
- Familiarity with the fabric markets in China is essential
- Strong fashion acumen and practical experience collaborating with designers is preferred
- Proficient knowledge of fabric and laboratory testing
- Proficient in PC applications including Excel and Word
- Effective communication and negotiation abilities
- Strong time management and people management skills
- Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese
