Gallery Manager - Communications and Public Affairs

About the Client:
Our client is a prestigious educational institution in Hong Kong. Their campus gallery highlights the university's history, vision, and achievements, serving as a hub for cultural and educational engagement.

About the Role:
This position is responsible for managing the gallery’s daily operations, curating exhibitions that articulate the university's legacy and aspirations, and ensuring a positive and insightful visitor experience. You will also lead a team of docents, managing archives, and collaborate with stakeholders to enhance the gallery’s content and displays.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily gallery operations and ensure an engaging visitor experience.
  • Curate exhibitions that effectively showcase the university's history, achievements, and vision, ensuring the content is engaging and accurate.
  • Organize and maintain archives for exhibitions and references.
  • Act as docent at times, conducting tours and training a team of alumni, retirees, and students to deliver high-quality guided tours.
  • Collaborate with curators, vendors, and consultants to enhance the gallery's exhibitions and interactive features.
  • Oversee scheduling and performance of docents, ensuring consistent tour quality.
  • Monitor content management systems to maintain accurate and user-friendly displays.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

  • Degree in a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in galleries, museums, or exhibitions in university/education sector.
  • Expertise in curatorial practices, exhibition planning, and collection management.
  • Proficiency in English, Cantonese, and Putonghua.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Photoshop or multimedia tools is a plus.
  • Self-motivated with excellent public speaking and collaboration skills.
