Job Description

As a proud member of the Ascentium Group, we stand at the forefront of innovation in Human Capital Solutions. With a forward-thinking mindset, we deliver a tailored suite of services that empower our clients to thrive in today’s fast-changing business landscape.

Our client is one of Hong Kong’s long-established banks, with a strong market presence and a well-established business platform. As part of its ongoing growth and transformation journey, the bank is investing in strengthening its Data Governance function and is seeking a committed professional to support the development and implementation of governance strategies, policies, and frameworks. The successful candidate will work closely with stakeholders across different business units, gain exposure to high-impact projects, and contribute to the bank's ongoing data transformation journey.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the development and implementation of the Bank’s Data Governance framework, strategy, and operating model, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish and maintain governance policies covering data quality, metadata, lineage, data ownership, access controls, and lifecycle management.
  • Partner with Risk, Compliance, and Technology teams to strengthen data risk management controls and ensure compliance with internal policies and PDPO requirements.
  • Drive data ownership and stewardship by working closely with business stakeholders to define responsibilities, accountability, and decision-making processes.
  • Coordinate Data Governance Council and working group activities, including meeting preparation, issue tracking, decision logging, and stakeholder communications.
  • Manage the business glossary, Critical Data Elements (CDEs), metadata, and data lineage documentation to ensure data assets are properly defined and maintained.
  • Establish data quality standards, KPIs, and governance metrics; monitor issues, drive remediation, and provide management reporting on governance effectiveness and risks.

Key Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, or Data Risk Management.
  • Proven track record in implementing or enhancing data governance frameworks and operating models.
  • Hands-on experience in data quality, metadata management, data lineage, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience within banking, financial services, or insurance industries is highly preferred.
  • Professional certification in Data Governance, Data Management, or AI Governance is an advantage.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and coordination skills.
