Head of Construction – MEP (Hotel Projects)
We have been retained by a premier, self-funded Main Contractor currently embarking on a landmark high-rise hotel development in the Middle East. This ambitious mega-project is entirely self-financed, ensuring stable capital backing and streamlined decision-making. To support this international venture, the company is establishing a strategic hub in East Asia. The successful candidate can be based in Hong Kong or Mainland China, serving as the critical bridge between China’s advanced manufacturing ecosystem and the 80-person on-site execution team in the Middle East.
Responsibilities:
- Supplier & Vendor Management: Identify, prequalify, and meet with premium China-based manufacturers for all heavy MEP procurement; follow up closely on production orders, quality control, and milestone payments.
- Technical Troubleshooting: Translate complex, remote on-site field issues into clear technical directions for Chinese suppliers to ensure immediate rectification.
- Advanced Technology Integration: Champion the use of next-generation construction methodologies, such as drones, robotics, and advanced automation, to optimize high-rise building efficiency.
- Core MEP Engineering Oversight: Lead the technical compliance, sourcing, and supply chain logistics for critical systems manufactured in China, including HVAC, AC systems, water treatment plants, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
- Remote Operations Support: Provide robust remote technical support and coordination to ensure seamless delivery, customs clearance, and installation of imported systems by the Middle East site team.
Requirements:
- Industry Experience: 20+ years of progressive leadership experience in the MEP construction sector, with a proven track record in the Chinese high-rise hotel market.
- Technical & Innovation Expertise: Strong background in high-rise building services combined with practical familiarity with integrating robotics, drones, or automated tools on active job sites.
- Sourcing Network: An active, extensive network of trusted MEP vendors and suppliers across Mainland China.
- Communication & Location: Complete fluency in Mandarin and English to negotiate with local factories and collaborate with international stakeholders; must be willing to be based in Hong Kong or China with regional travel for site meetings, inspection, and audits
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
