Engineering Support Lead (Central Services)
Our client, a prominent leader in the public transport sector, operates a fleet of over 1,700 buses and employs more than 5,000 dedicated staff members, providing essential services to over 1 million customers across the city. They are now seeking an exceptional Engineering Support Lead (Central Services) to play a pivotal role in driving excellence and innovation within their team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement a proactive fleet repair and refurbishment program to enhance the lifespan of the fleet while reinforcing the company’s reputation for reliability and excellence.
- Leverage cutting-edge technologies and methodologies to keep the fleet at the forefront of industry innovations, driving continuous improvements in safety, performance, and operational efficiency.
- Oversee Type Approval applications for all retrofit and modification projects, ensuring their seamless execution and full compliance with industry regulations.
- Lead the delivery of new buses, ensuring they meet all technical specifications and operational requirements for optimal performance.
- Spearhead key fleet modification initiatives, including seatbelt retrofitting, bus refurbishments, and the conversion of buses into open-top vehicles.
- Manage the Centralized Body Workshop, overseeing critical functions such as bus repainting, major accident repairs, and the prefabrication of body parts.
- Supervise the Centralized Rim Workshop, optimizing workflows and ensuring consistent, high-quality output.
- Drive innovation in new products, safety features, and technologies, fostering a forward-thinking approach to fleet management.
- Promote a culture of unwavering commitment to health, safety, engineering legislation, and company policies, ensuring all processes and practices align with best practices.
- Foster effective communication with colleagues across departments to ensure seamless collaboration and efficient execution of projects.
- Stay ahead of industry advancements, continuously refining engineering skills to ensure the company remains at the cutting edge of fleet management and technology.
- Ensure the timely and accurate completion of engineering documentation, maintaining high standards of record-keeping and compliance.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
- Min 7 years of experience in fleet management, vehicle engineering, or maintenance workshop operations.
- A strong passion for developing team members to enhance overall efficiency.
- Exceptional leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and teams concurrently.
- Knowledge of local regulations regarding Road Traffic Ordinance, type approval processes, and fleet modification programs.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with government agencies, internal teams, and external partners.
- Proficient in both spoken and written English and Chinese.
