Design Director – (Hong Kong Based – Fashion Apparel)

As the Design Director, you will spearhead the creative vision and brand identity for a diverse portfolio of fashion brands. Your role will be pivotal in nurturing and developing the design team, guiding product, material, and colour direction to resonate with consumers globally. Collaborating closely with Sourcing, Buying, and other key departments, you will forge strong connections that elevate brand presence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and direct the organization’s seasonal narratives, themes, and product stories, ensuring alignment across colour, materials, and graphics.
  • Oversee all visual elements of operations, advising on product design, advertising, marketing campaigns, and the shopping experience to cultivate a robust brand presence.
  • Drive the identification of long-term and seasonal trends within the industry, contributing to innovative retail strategies that keep the brand ahead of the curve.
  • Guide the creative process to ensure that final products not only align with brand image but also meet commercial objectives.
  • Develop and implement Design and Creation strategies for key projects, setting a high standard for design excellence and expectations throughout the organization.
  • Oversee the complete creative process, identifying industry trends in colour, materials, and graphics, and influence merchandising and assortment strategies.
  • Lead and mentor the design team both creatively and organizationally, fostering an environment of innovation and collaboration.
  • Collaborate with division managers and relevant functions to ensure alignment with the strategic priorities of the brands.
  • Manage and synchronize design, materials, colours, and graphics across divisions and brands to maintain a cohesive brand identity.

Requirements:

  • Degree / Masters Design, Fashion Design, or a related field.
  • Exceptional creative vision and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
  • 10-15 years of experience in product design, focusing on colour, material, graphic, and apparel design, with a proven track record of successful projects.
  • At least 10 years of management and leadership experience, demonstrating the ability to drive teams toward achieving strategic goals.
  • Exceptional understanding with proven experience in the Apparel / Fashion sectors
  • Fluency in English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Apple Mac environments and adept with Adobe Suite and MS Office.
  • Frequent travel to China is required
  • Immediately Available is preferred

Budget:

  • HK$120,000 – 150,000 x 13 Months + Bonus
  • Relocation package will be provided to internationally based candidates
