My client is a prestigious international law firm with a strong, well-established presence in Hong Kong. They are currently seeking a mid to senior level Company Secretary to join their stable team.

Responsibilities

• Oversee a full spectrum of company secretarial operations for HK and offshore client entities.
• Coordinate board and shareholder meetings, draft minutes and prepare statutory resolutions.
• Assist with enquiries from clients such as company formation and Companies Registry compliance matters
• Provide mentorship and guidance for other company secretarial staff and assistants.

Requirements

• At least 10+ years of dedicated company secretarial experience (ideally with some law firm exposure)
• Excellent expertise of the Hong Kong Companies Ordinance and offshore jurisdictions 
• Fluency in English and Chinese is required
• Exceptional organizational skills and high attention to detail

Key Responsibilities

• Convert new leads into long-term clients through proactive outreach, relationship building, and effective follow-up.
• Guide clients through onboarding, ensuring smooth documentation collection and compliance with KYC requirements.
• Develop client-specific solutions by leveraging deep knowledge of products, jurisdictions, and market trends.
• Collaborate with cross-border teams to deliver seamless onboarding and high-quality service.
• Conduct market research, attend industry events, and pursue targeted outreach to build visibility and generate leads.
• Maintain regular communication with clients, nurturing relationships and identifying new opportunities.
• Monitor industry developments, legislation, and competitor offerings to inform business strategy.
• Negotiate engagement terms and manage compliance requirements with new clients.
• Ensure business take-on processes meet company’s standards for quality and turnaround.
• Support ad-hoc projects and contribute to broader business development initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Accounting, or related discipline.
• Proven experience in private wealth and offshore corporate structures.
• Strong technical expertise in private client services, including corporate entities, trusts, and funds.
• Familiarity with UK, BVI, and Cayman Islands regulations, corporate transactions, and succession instruments.
• Solid understanding of compliance and risk management procedures.
• Ability to coordinate complex multi-jurisdictional proposals across multiple business lines.
• Established industry network is highly desirable.
• Excellent written and spoken English; proficiency in additional languages is an advantage.
• Willingness to travel regularly.
• Results-driven, self-motivated, and able to manage priorities independently.
• Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to build and sustain client and partner relationships.
• Previous client-facing and relationship management experience is essential.

About Role

The Business Development Manager will be based in the Hong Kong office and will play a central role in originating and converting new business, managing client relationships through the onboarding lifecycle, and supporting multi-jurisdictional client solutions across their product set. The role requires a commercially minded, client-facing professional with strong technical knowledge of private wealth and offshore corporate structures.

Key Responsibilities

• Convert new contacts into clients through proactive outreach, relationship building and follow-up.
• Guide clients through documentation collection and KYC requirements to ensure a timely and compliant business commencement.
• Maintain an up-to-date understanding of our products, jurisdictions and competitor offerings and communicate our unique propositions to clients and intermediaries.
• Assess clients’ economic, political and regulatory backgrounds to recommend appropriate structures and solutions.
• Work with BD colleagues to develop target client lists, attend client meetings, prepare quotations, and produce marketing materials.
• Research prospective clients, markets and events; generate leads and manage them through a sales pipeline to successful close.
• Maintain regular communication with clients and intermediaries to build and retain strong relationships.
• Monitor industry developments and corporate legislation to identify new sales opportunities.
• Negotiate engagement letters and liaise with compliance to satisfy onboarding requirements where necessary.
• Ensure the client take-on process meets Harneys Fiduciary’s standards for service, quality and turnaround.
• Assist with ad-hoc projects and cross-functional initiatives as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in law, accounting or a related discipline.
• Relevant experience working with private wealth and offshore corporate structures (entities, trusts, funds).
• Strong technical knowledge in the private client field and familiarity with UK, BVI and Cayman Islands regulations and corporate/succession instruments.
• Good knowledge of compliance, KYC and risk management procedures.
• Proven ability to coordinate complex, multi-jurisdictional proposals involving multiple business lines.
• Demonstrable sales experience and a track record in client acquisition and relationship management; an existing industry network is highly desirable.
• Excellent English written and verbal communication skills; proficiency in additional languages is an advantage.
• Self-motivated, results-oriented, able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to travel regularly as required.
